I was assigned to this serviced apartment by a humanitarian organization I volunteered with. The compound was tidy and well-kept. The receptionist was served by unfriendly locals, and a desk was set up there. It was in a tiny cafe where the food was served. The cafe offers typical egg and cereal with little variety over the days I was here. Although the coffee is not wonderful, it has an espresso maker. The breakfast served by the elderly was quite warm and friendly. The kitchen was provided in a sizable space. I experienced mild allergy reactions, like burning nostrils and a sore throat, possibly as a reaction to an allergen in the room. Blackouts occur all day and night, but these were city-wide. There were numerous satellite channels from South Africa. As can be seen in the attached image, the apartments' views were breathtaking.

Compared to some places in town that are even less desirable than this place, this place is quite affordable. Clean, spacious airconditioned rooms, clean sheets, spacious bathrooms, safe, small lounge in executive rooms, balcony with amazing views, kitchen with variety of cookingware. Restaurant service is standard, there aren't many options on the menu, and it takes some time to get your food ready etc., I mk 50000 per night.

The apartments are lovely. The maids are wonderful but the management is poor. I requested mosquito nets. We had two rooms. One had a net in one room. Even after repeated requests, the other did not. Blantyre has a power outage, but the hotel has a huge generator. They waited about two hours before turning it on again claiming it had broken. They did nothing to fix it. The hot days and evenings made living there very unpleasant. Without a mosquito net and no electricity, it was not advised to open the windows. This left us with a deep sense of concern as visitors. No electricity, lights, air conditioning, and a hot breakfast as advertised in the morning. I won't remain there again. Finally, we relocated to another hotel. A much better location than Kris Star Lodge!.

It has been greatly improved since the establishment was restored. The hotels new management is incredible. We had a small kitchen in our room, the room was tidy and roomy, the shower was hot with excellent water pressure, and the included breakfast was excellent. There are numerous choices for french toast, muesli and yogurt, omelets, etc along with cereals, fruits, and other sides, as well as coffee, coffee, or blackgreen tea along with them! From the cafe, you can see a wonderful view of a nearby mountain, as well as paintings by a local artist inside. Although the bed was a little firm, there were several pillows. It is located at the end of a quiet street, far from the bustle of Blantyre. It has ac and a cable in the rooms. I highly recommend it.
