I loved the look of the hotel, it was very artsy. The rooms and hallways were hand painted & signed by the artist. Theres a working fish export business downstairs & a seafood restaurant upstairs. It's got a lot going on but it still feels quiet. The fish boats something operate during the night, so it can get a little noisy and smelly but that's living & working in a fishing village. The bed was firm but comfy and I had a great view of the lake and could watch the fishermen work from my balcony. The one lady on staff during my stay was fabulous; kind, friendly and super helpful. There's not a lot of english spoken in the area, even compared to Taiping.

Room with sunset view , great exploration surrounding and restaurant just downstairs. Just that need to walk three floors up and not suitable to bring young children cause quite dangerous to walk up three floors.

The hotel is most artsy meaning it's decorated like a boutique hotel, very creative & pleasant. It's right by the riverside & the view is a sight to behold. Departure jetty points are closeby. Restaurants are plenty with one Chinese food restaurant right in the hotel itself. There are many things to like about this hotel. Perhaps a night staff on duty might help. Parking spaces for cars are limited.

Many people think the fish smell is off-putting but the fish is fresh fish smell to me, not like those supermarket fishy smell and not stale fish smell so I’m alright with it. Water provided is their own boiled water, so if you prefer, buy your own bottled water. Breakfast is simple sandwich but it’s good enough for us.

In Koala Sentral, this is the only hotel available. It is nicely designed, with a nice view. There should be a lift, though. Extremely unfriendly to use! Imagine carrying your bags up three stories. Be prepared to park along the road because there isn't much space for parking. Despite the flat-screen in the room, there is no transmission. Be cautious if you encounter loud neighbors because the rooms are also insufficient in soundproofing. Despite all of these flaws, I do like this hotel and it can be relaxing in and of itself.

We had a wonderful time during our stay here!. But what one would anticipate was to find such a comfortable room in such a rugged town in such a rugged structure. Sadly, we discovered that the beds are hard like a road. Sleeping through the night was further disturbed by loud boats cruising by, room aircorn sucked in air with smoke smells from nearby charcoal factories. The hotel has an excellent restaurant on the premises, and there are numerous stalls selling dry goods and seafood nearby.

This place is perfect for a quick visit. It's recommended to pay a little more for a room with a balcony overlooking the river because of its excellent location directly across the river. Boats passing by on the river can get a little bouncy, but the stunning view, particularly at sunset and early morning, more than makes up for it. From the outside, the lodging appears nothing spectacular, more like a factory house with a huge eagle at the top. Free parking is available at the opposite temple or across the street. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no elevator and the stairs are steep and poorly lit. When I was there, the wifi and to be down, but I didn't mind. On Monday and Saturday evenings, there is a street market selling local goods.

I will love to return to escape from everything. When I got there, I was overjoyed by the enormous eagle on the roof, but we were unable to locate a proper entrance. Before we got there, we had to go around some uninteresting, industrial-looking structure. The interior surprised me. Everything appears to be beautifully designed and pleasing to the eye. Only one staff member will attend to you and your group. The ground floor resembles a cafe, there are exquisitely decorated seats outside the lobby, the end of the lobby has an attractive al fresco balcony, and there is a sitting area covered in charcoal bricks. The Kang Kao restaurant is on the ground floor, and its signature dish is prawn curry stuffed in bread, which is fantastic with beer. The balconies are better with a nice view, sight, and sounds of fishing villages, and the rooms are on the first level.

It is unique! There is a storage freezer here. Because of its enormous eagle on the roof, you will not miss it. The personnel is pleasant and accommodating. Yet, the commotion is not due to Happy 8. You see, happy 8 is made of wood, and it is common sense to think about other guests in other rooms when you yell, turn on your music constantly, or even stomp around in your room. There is no soundproofing. I adore this lodging because of its location and convenience. However, I had a gorilla living above us who stomps around until after midnight. And we can hear children yelling because parents couldn't care less that other visitors assumed they were living in their own home. That's what makes the lodging unpleasant. Happy 8 would be a fantastic spot to stay if all visitors ponder about others and do your part in promoting some peace and quiet.

There was no one at the reception when we arrived. Need to call the person in charge for check in then they will come to attend you. The room and environment are good.
