This is only true 5 star hotel in ulaanbaatar... great location. linked to shopping mall. Great chinese restaurant... You will need one after few days of Ger experience here.

Beautiful hotel, great staff. Centrally located it's a walking distance from the main square. There is mall with a few restaurants next to it so if you need to shop or have a traditional mongolian food then you can just walk to the mall. The breakfast was good too. Highly recommend it.

The room is nice and very comfortable. Furnitures not as tip top as other Shangri la hotels but definitely the best hotel in Ulaanbaator. Staffs are very friendly and approachable. Thumbs up!

Beautiful property, amazing staff Possibly the most helpful, accommodating staff we’ve EVER encountered. FedEx delivery on Monday failed, so numerous staff members made phone calls & kept up with tracking. When departing Mongolia on Wed. morning, the hotel driver took us to FedEx office, then to cargo area at ULN. He went above & beyond as translator & negotiator, helped get our package & got us to our flight on time. Well done! Property is beautifully maintained with lovely public spaces. Deluxe room with king bed was spacious with lots of drawer & closet space and bathroom counter space. Climate control was iffy. Laundry service was reasonably priced & good quality. Impressively prompt service when calling housekeeping for additional clothes hangers and maintenance for a minor issue with television. Speaking of TV, they have a good selection of channels. Housekeeping service was exemplary. Cafe Park breakfast buffet featured nice variety of western & Asian dishes; very attentive service. Nadaam restaurant had generous portions but service was quite poor. Bartenders, however, were attentive so subsequent visits were to bar area only. Their Chinese restaurant, Hutong, was a special treat! Delicious Peking duck & fantastic service. Great central location for walking to shopping and sights. Overall, a wonderful place to spend five days/four nights and the warmth & kindness of the front desk staff and driver makes this one of our best hotel experiences ever!

Luxury among mountains, great hotel of high standard from beginning till the end. Spacious and stylish room with stunning view on mountains made me staring at the window for hours. Breakfast has everything what you only could wish for and even more. Local restaurant offers some traditional meals and intercontinental ones, quality is very good. Hotel stuff is polite, friendly and ready to help you with different requests. It is pleasure to see people who are happy that you are staying at their hotel. Only one thing what could bother is spa as it is located in other building and you have to take a 3 minute walk until you reach it. It is not that private as it is should be in 5 star hotel, because it is combined with fitness club and there are many people who come to fitness club and same spa. If you want to go to the pool you have to go out from the spa, take a lift to another floor and then you will be there. But eventhough I think you hardly will find better hotel in Ulaanbaatar which can offer you perfect package.

If you travel to Ulaanbaatar, you don’t need to spend too much time researching on where to stay — the Shangri-La Hotel in the city centre is a no-brain choice. For the past many years, I’ve stayed and/or dined at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore (where the first Shangri-La Hotel was founded by the super-rich Asian Kuok families, who also happened to be my former employer), London, and of course Hong Kong. The Shangri-La Ulaanbaatar is no difference from its five-star sister hotels elsewhere. At the second when you step into the lobby, you may be surprised how familiar everything feels like — the layout of lobby floor, background music, and even the unique Shangri-La indoor fragrance. Hotel staff are nice and speak very good English, and there is a Chinese restaurant called Hutong where you can even find Peking duck in Mongolia. I have free and exclusive access to the Club Lounge where you can have an awesome 360 degree view of the city centre. Everything from the "State House", aka the central government office building, to ancient temples or modern public libraries, and the first Irish bar in Mongolia (located in “walking street for bars and restaurants”), are all within your sight -- and walk too. Traffic in Ulaanbaatar is not so desirable, so walking can actually save you a lot of time. The only small complaint about the hotel is still about traffic. It's hard to find taxi in the morning, so you shall arrange cars in advance.

Loved the shangri-la. It really was a terrific hotel and far above the standard hotel in UB. It was easy for them to arrange private taxi to and from the airport and they were wonderful in catering to my every request. The gym was also amazing! Hug, spacious and very new equipment. Breakfast was standard for an international hotel. Overall, my time at the shangri-la made for a very pleasant experience.
