A really good hostel just outside the main city of Bergen but a short walk away to bus transport and also a small Bunnpris shop for food items, etc. Was perfect for my weekend in the area, especially with even being close to the Ulriken mountain tram/path to the summit - staff were helpful with check in/out, plus the shared female dorm room I stayed in was comfortable and with a good toilet/shower room and bunkbeds. And of course the free breakfast was perfect to have too in starting my day and also shared kitchen with fridges to store food, etc!

Great location and was nice to get to hiking trails from the hostel. Easy access to bus stop. Loved the breakfast buffet and made good use of the community kitchen. Welcoming atmosphere and will stay there again when I return to Bergen!

I loved my stay in Montana and I can see why it was voted as Norway’s best hostel. The highlight for me was the activities organised by the great team of volunteers. I was lucky to be there on a Sunday so joined the hike to Baunehytten - beautiful scenery, lake swimming and coffee and waffles. In terms of practicalities, the hostel is a 20 min bus trip from the bus station (which is very close to the train station). Take bus 12 and you can buy a ticket (49) on board. It is worth buying the 24 hr bus pass if you are likely to do 3 trips in a 24 hr period. The hostel is very clean and extremely it well equipped. The kitchen has everything you would need and there’s a supermarket just along the road - it is closed on Sundays like others in Norway. The breakfast was generous and varied. There is a great sunset viewing area and I recommend going to the 5.30pm coffee/tea and biscuits with the volunteers. Thank you for a fantastic time!

Stayed in the mixed dorm. Slept well. Common area was nice and clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Close walk to Bunnpris for other meals and snacks. Exercise room could use sprucing up.
