It is an iconic structure in Bocas town that has been relocated and features water coolers on both floors, which is advantageous since drinking water in Bocas is prohibited. After paying the high costs of Costa Rich, this was our first hotel in Panama, but I'm sure there must be better hotels in Bocas. Check out other hotels before reserving here. It appears excellent from the outside, is a landmark structure in the city of Bocas, is reallocated, and has water coolers on both floors, which is where the good points come to an end. Our room was dark and dank, and it contained a low-powered light bulb in a dark brown lampshade. Even when properly placed in front of the air conditioner, wet apparel took days to dry. Black blotches in the shower were all over the area. We were eagerly anticipating three days of relaxation after visiting Costa Rich because there were not enough curtains, a view, a balcony, or any outdoor area. On Saturday night, the music from someone up the street played until four in the morning. I'm pretty sure I know the hour since I didn't get a full night's sleep until that time has been completed. The negative things are the old rooms, the bathroom has a filthy shower stall and is so small that you cant even put your toiletries anywhere, the under mattress is stained and the walls are so thin that you can hear anything your neighbor is doing. Breakfast is basic which is ok if it wasn't for the fact that everything including perishable items is put on a table in the hall in whatever weather and not being cooled, which I think is downright dangerous. If you are staying in this hotel, ask for a quiet room away from the main road as the disco tends to go on till 4.30 am and is loud. We stayed here 3 nights but Id recommend it for 1 or 2 nights.

The Gran Basic was a hit with us. It's an old hotel, in a good way. We were in Bocas during the carnival, and the Gran Basic was at the other end of town from the festivities, so it was relatively quiet. It is family-owned and operated and everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well-done and incredibly complete. The rooms are spacious, the mattresses are fantastic, and everything is immaculate.

I spent two nights at the Gran Basic during my solo vacation in Bocas. Pros are that the hotel is well located and very easy to find from the dock after being dropped off later than expected in the rain. The bars on the front desk and the locks are a reflection of the hotel's past as a bank. After nearly two weeks of traveling through nicaraguan costa rich without such amenities, I was happy to have air conditioning. And the air conditioning functioned admirably. Although the room was out of date, I thought it was charming. The restroom was modest but tidy. Cons the walls were very thin, allowing me to hear a conversation outside the corridor that was crisp and clear throughout the day. You could also hear the club across the street playing loud music until early in the morning. The shower didnt have hot water. The free was subpar. Breakfast consisted of bread and toasters, cereal, a small amount of fruit, and bologna slices of cheese, bologna slices, and slices of cheese. Milk was in containers sat on tables in the hallway in the heat of day. On my second morning at the hotel, it tasted horrible. I believed that this hotel was a little high on quality. I will remain somewhere else if I travel back to Bocas.
