The customer service was top notch! We didn't just want to remain in a Portuguese castle, but we were drawn to castle alto because it is where professionals train chefs, servers, bartenders, and general castle employees. The first night, Castle Alto held an orchestra performance in their courtyard free. We were served by trainees in what was a very private white tablecloth dinner. Through excellent English, my wife and I learned of their professional objectives as servants. Oldo trained servants can work anywhere. As I wrote in my recent book on learning, everyone wants to be served. Nobody wants to be a servant. This isn't true at Castle Alto in just century portugal. The employees also offered local history and interesting locations like the nearby Roman farm that was excavated and open to the public. Check out inland southern portugal and stay at Castle Alto.

The hotel is an ancient palace. The rooms are nice, though a little small. Everything is clean, and they have beautiful gardens and a small but nice swimming pool. The food is delicious and the stay was very helpful. A very nice hotel for a few peaceful days.

The staff were friendly and polite. There is lots of parking on-site. Wifi worked well. The breakfast was excellent and had a variety of options. Our room was spacious enough, quiet, and had a lovely view of the garden. Even in November, the gardens were beautiful. The only downside was that there wasn't a kettle in the room.

I spent two nights in this fantastic structure which combines madeline and Mudejar design. One suite includes 20 rooms. The large city center's main square is partially concealed by high curtain walls. The gloomy gardens and pool behind the tall curtain walls keep the sun out of the area. The tower and restaurant were both seen from our room. A sizable cypress swung out the window like a Jack the Beanstalk. The employee was lovely and very helpful. We had breakfast in the restaurant, which had wholesome, reasonably priced, but uninteresting menu. There was a delicious and affordable wine selection. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of breads, cakes, and cereals, with a wide variety of hot and cold choices. Freshly squeezed orange juice was excellent. In addition to the castle waterwheel, under the maples, a lovely terrace that receives the evening sun was located beneath the maple trees. Great location to read or observe the night go down over Alto. It was a delight to visit the church of bossa senora da assuncao, which dates back to the first century bc or churches, the Greta da Misericordia, the Greta da senora das chocolates, and the fortified church of Santa Liza, on the southern edge of town
