Great stay here on my first night in Sri Lanka. Really clean, modern, and everything you would expect from a hotel of this quality. It's also very close to Colombo Fort station which is useful if you are going to continue the trip by train! I didn't use the pool but had a drink there and it looks great - one note was that the service was quite slow! Breakfast options were vast. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a fancy place, the lobby reminded me of a cruise ship. There was even live music! The swimming pool is large and pristine, and you can watch a variety of birds in the river while you soak in the pool. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the facilities are first class and the dinner buffet is amazing.

Got a voucher for 12 usd when I made me reservation. No one noticed that and I had to argue with restaurants that n the area and still they could not solved it. For the future it is much better if you give the guests a paper voucher as they do at the sister hotel cinnamon red when you Check in. Also a difference when the staff of cleaning make the room, sometimes toothbrush and refill of water and other days not. The “night club” Colobar is a bit is a problem since they plays loud music outside and the music can be heard in the rooms, that is not what you wish for a hotel like this. Improvement please on this! Still this is one of my favorite hotels in Sri Lanka but I also think it needs a renovation.

I booked one week stay at Cinnamon lakeside in December of 2024. It was absolutely perfect in every way. Joshua at the reception was particularly just great in his service approach, and he was kind enough to also provide for me a room upgrade for which I am so grateful. I was so well received and looked after by all the staff at the hotel and even though it was close to Christmas and the hotel was exceptionally busy, the staff handled the crowds of guests and everything professionally and with a smile at all times. I had a really wonderful experience and I am already looking forward to returning a next time. Extra plus points for this hotel are: As a female solo traveller, you are received in a very professional way without the unnecessary chitchatting and sometimes overly friendly manner I have unfortunately encountered in other hotels on the island, so this is something I especially appreciated as I felt 100% relaxed. Other plus points are: the variety of restaurants and different seating areas. It is located on a lake and I enjoyed morning walks by the lakeside, bird watching and seeing quite a bit of wildlife and also activity on the lake. A garden manager particularly took me on a round to show me the wildlife and we spotted a monitor lizard, water snake, amongst other things. I also enjoyed the hotel’s hairdresser salon, which was so conveniently located, just take the elevator right down. Laundry service was also great.
