The place was nice and clean but what really stood out was the staff. They always stopped to visit when walking by and genuinely wanted to ensure we enjoyed our stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Mapakada Village is a beautiful hotel, tucked away from the regular tourist route - but it’s well worth heading here. It’s set against a stunning lake, where you can do various activities and wildlife spotting. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. I’d especially recommend the superior double, which looks out to the lake and the pool. We actually stayed at Mapakada Village a little by accident, during a storm - and we were so looked after, especially by Dinesh. He went above and beyond to help get us back to Negombo in time for our flight, actually driving us several hours himself, which was incredibly kind. Staying here for a couple of nights was exactly what we needed. Thanks so much!

We booked at the last minute, but I don’t regret it. The room is huge, the bed is excellent, and it’s clean with a great view. The pool is also nice. There were small issues, like the bathroom being under renovation with markings on the tiles, or the mini fridge squeezed into a cabinet so tight that the door barely opened. Despite these, it was the best accommodation I’ve had in Sri Lanka.

Exellent resort right on the lake/dam side. We really enjoyed to chill out here for a 2 days break during our motorcycle ride in Sri lanka. Staff and and food were top notch. The resort offer a complimentary boat trip on the lake in the morning. The area is very peaceful as no boats with engines are allowed. The water is very clean and we saw no plastic or rubbish. The locals fish from small boats and from the shore. We saw many birds such as king fisher, white ibis and comorants on stilts with their wings spread out for drying in the sun. We had a room with a big balcony facing the dam and with a view towards the mountains in the horizon. I would recommend the rooms facing the lake for the fantastic view from the big balcony. The infinity edge pool got one of the best views you can imagine. From the pool we could see the lake surrounded by forrest and the montains in the background. The resort offers a trip to a national park in the area with many wild elephants and other wild life but unfortunately we were not able to join this because of our schedule. Exellent breakfast with choice of sri lankan and western dishes. One day we had a la carte breakfast and the 2nd day it was a buffet.

In October 2022, we stayed at this hotel. The location is very strategic. This hotel has very nice and neat staff, the room design is very good and has a very good cleanliness. The food is delicious, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much to Suru Milan, the receptionist, who was very helpful.

We stayed in December 2022 for 2 nights. We ended up getting a garden view room because the booking was late. But it really doesn't matter when the main intention is to use this as a base camp for exploration. The room was clean, spacious, and had tea and coffee maker that was topped up for both days along with water. The restroom was clean and roomy. A new addition to this particular room would be a chair or two for those who want to work on their laptops while on vacation. Both outdoor activities we engaged in were excellent. The hike to see sunrise was canceled due to safety concerns because the naturalist said the rocks would be slippery. We took the ratha ella hike to include kahuna tuna ella, and then on the boat ride to a nearby island on the lake with breakfast on the island. However, there are plenty of locations to see sunrise alone, such as nearby hapaloya, loggaloya, and even Sorabora Wesa. This might make things easier for the hotel management as well, and we thought it was a great breakfast that many people might enjoy. The personnel on duty during our visit was very helpful, friendly, and polite. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. The finest thing was to improve the simple things that can be done in the rooms. I highly recommend this place. They provide a good guide for Nature Tourism, and he is very enthusiastic and goes above and beyond to ensure a great experience. Food and service was excellent. The employees were also very polite. Very nice housekeeping.

We have a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the lake. The restaurant where we ate could be a little more cozy, but the local cuisine was excellent. Also, there were other cuisine options that we didn t try. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The biggest highlight of our night was breakfast on a lake boat. A very pleasant gentleman accompanied us over the lake, along the shore, and into a few little bays, displaying plants and all sorts of animals. It was difficult to forget the meal.

Chambre petite, sans aucun charme mais avec grand balcon donnant sur le lac. Côté restauration, les assises des chaises sont très tachées et malheureusement ça se remarque. Le diner pris à l'hôtel avec mon guide était correct mais longue attente pour le service. La présence du serveur qui attend pour débarrasser n'est pas agréable. Cet hôtel est de catégorie 2,5 étoiles et cela ne vaut vraiment pas plus. Les prix pratiqués dans cet établissement sont trop chers.
