More suitable for backpackers than this location. still under construction. Through a steep, slender, steel spiral staircase, the home suite is accessible from outside. The washroom is so dark that our use in the afternoon during a power outage almost left us groping in the dark. We did not spend the night here, instead used it as a hiking base. Breakfast and lunch. The proprietor, Rowan, promised the sky when he organized a hike with two guides and Sir permission to climb the highest peak in Rutgala. He boasts expertise and special access to the area. We were requested to leave combo at 4 am via bus. We ended up wasting a lot of time not being able to commute to the base of the hike. Buses were not available in the final journey. Despite the fact that the guides were aware of our mode of transport before our arrival, many disorganized delays were created by them despite their limited prior understanding. We traveled on our hike with just a little knowledge, preoccupied with the phone, and a constant lament by the guide about the difficulty and lack of time. When we were so sure that we had been deceived that we would turn back when we knew we had not received permission, and that the trek wasn't what we had paid LKR 800, Rowan accepted blame and apologized. This area is more suitable for backpackers because it is near the Rutgala archeological site. We did not stay overnight, instead we used it as a hiking base. A breakfast and lunch stop. Rowan, the owner, promised the sky when he organized a hike with 2 guides and Sir permission to climb the highest peak in Rutgala. He had unique access and knowledge of the area. We were asked to leave the combo by 4 a.m., which we did by bus. We ended up wasting a lot of time and unable to commute to the base of the hike. Bus transportation could not be used. Even though the guides were aware of our mode of transportation before our arrival, they made us hop in a tutu and ride their motorcycle, which we later discovered they owned, in order to get to the base. We were completely misled and decided to return when it was obvious that the peak we wanted to climb was far away and not achievable from where we were. Rowan accepted the blame and apologised. Poor measure of consolation for deliberate deceit and cheating. I will not take any advice or assurances provided by this property owner. Due to the condo epidemic, many reputable hotels close by are offering very good rates, possibly more reliable and value for the money.
