From the greetings on arrival to the moment of departure, the staff and owners were only too happy to assist us. If you are looking for a place to relax and hang by the pool or walk down laneways for 10 minutes to a great swimming beach, this place is just great to wind down from the usual tourist trails. The grounds surrounding our accommodation had lots of wildlife, squirrels, geese and even some resident eagles in the coconut palms.. For western travellers, it's handy to know that they have reasonable bar with cold beer and glasses too..A tuk tuk into town is only 5 minutes when you want to see some of the sights such as the Dutch fort.

Everything was perfect. The bathrooms were clean, odorless, and good sized with a strong shower. The AC worked really well without being noisy. Meal options were great, high quality dishes made to order - so take care to order at least one hour before you want to eat. The property was so spacious with lots of shady spots to sit by the water. All the staff were incredibly helpful, like they ordered tuktuks for my aunt and I, and the tuktuks came very promptly. We were picked up to go to the railway station at 5:30 AM sharp. From an American perspective the prices of room and meals were all a fantastic deal. I also appreciated the universal charger in the room, which worked for my US plugs. The hotel is nice in that it doesn't feel overly touristy or ostentatious. It's a bit low key but immaculately clean and well-managed. Was interesting to also see the manager's model train set for a nominal fee, check it out on a rainy day esp. if you have kids. I would add, lastly, that the restaurant went to great lengths to accommodate my family member's request for low salt versions of all meals.

This place is like a mini centre parcs for space. Equivalent size of 6x football pitches. Pool is large, clean and excellent. Good location.

Amazing place. Such professional staff, huge property with attractive pool and long lagoon front full of hammocks and tables to watch the fishermen at sunset. Very good food. Wide range of rooms in different style bungalows spread out through the property (very quiet). Very clean (inside the rooms, the lobby/dining area and even the sand/ground throughout the property. 15 minute walk through alleys of friendly neighborhood to long, deserted beach. Environmentally friendly management of the resort. I can't say enough positive things about the friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism of the staff... feels like 4 star resort at 2 star rates

Very pleasant extensive grounds with good swimming pool albeit a bit of a hike from our room (300m). Beautiful views of the lagoon and the hotel has lots of information about the area. The food pricing is tedious. Instead of including the price of a curry with 3 or 4 side vegetable curries each dish is separately priced which bumps the cost up. We had the good inclusive breakfast but if you don't, each item down to per slice of toast is separately priced! However, the room was excellent value for money and we wished we'd stayed here longer.

Especially for families with kids, it is the ideal location for a family vacation. There is plenty of garden space for the kids to move around and mix with free roaming ducks, rabbits and the like. Especially the freshly prepared crab curry, which none can match. Other plus features include a wellappointed bar, ample free parking, which is very secure, and the swimming pool.

The staff are very nice and will try to help you. Its perfectly fine for a couple of nights. What you should be aware of in riviera resort is that some of the rooms are shipping containers. These are airless places with short 5 stars? They advertise the beds as couples rooms! Sounds appealing but it isn't! This is my only issue. Apart from that the food is good and the staff is nice.

I spent a fantastic time at Riviera resort. The resort is enormous and offers a wonderful lakeside outlook. It is wonderful to sit and enjoy the scenery during brunch. Excellent food is offered. After a long trip, I came here to unwind and unwind. Its undoubtedly the ideal location to unwind, recuperate, and take in the stunning, tranquil surroundings. The personnel were superb and accommodating. They provide excellent meals. The resort is extremely large and offers a stunning scenic perspective of the lake. I was able to rent a scooter on the premises for my day trip around the city. After many weeks of traveling, I came here to unwind.

On Batticaloa lagoon, famous for its chanting fish, cozy rooms, clean and comfortable. Enjoy authentic local seafood cuisine. The lagoon is pure bliss to cool off with a beer in the evening or wake up to the sight of fishermen setting off in the morning in their catamaran.

The location is beautiful, in a great garden right outside the town center. The location is on the waterfront in a very unique location. The location has a very unique charm. The food is decent with a few intermittent problems with the wifi. The hotel's facilities were also really impressive.

We had a good stay at Riviera, good location, away from the busy roads, very good for walking, particularly in the nearby beach. The room was fine, good outside veranda, bed and towels good. The restaurant was excellent, very good, probably the best restaurant in the area. Food is made to order, fresh and of a very high standard, wide and varied choice. Go for an early walk on the beach and watch the local fisherman, interesting.

This is a really nice hotel! It's listed on 'top ten things to do in Batti' as a place to have gin and tonic under the canopy sitting over the lagoon, and I can see why. The property was beautiful and well maintained, the pool was immaculate. I only ate the Sri Lankan food but it was delicious. My only complaint is the bed was extremely uncomfortable, and I left with a sore back, but if you're made of stern stuff it's completely the right place to stay in Batticaloa!
