This place is situated on a narrow path above Appenzell. A camping site is used to get there. I think I made a booking error. We had to wait a long time for our room key because the hotel was so busy when we got there. It's very busy when the day comes for lunch and a nice view at this place. Our accommodation was huge and spacious. The view across Appenzell was truly spectacular from the large balcony. Both the bathroom and the walk-in shower were excellent. The bed was a luxurious king-size mattress. minimal amenities were provided. There are magnificent views from this restaurant once more. Both the brunch and the evening meal were excellent. The service at the hotel was excellent, and the hotel was tidy. Internet connectivity was fast, and the hotel was user-friendly.

Appenzell is a small agricultural district in north eastern Switzerland that is located south of Lake Konstanzbodensee and close to lichtenstein and Austria. It fell is the closest large town. After a long drive from italy, we were looking for a place to spend the night in Appenzell. The beautiful rolling landscape differs from the spectacular high alps but is distinctive and appeared to be more of a tourist honeypot than the lake side. The landgasthof kitchen is located in the middle of a small hilltop campsite where we intended to place a tent, it was quiet and clean, but as night wore on and the weather was turning a little damp, I thought I'd ask if there were free rooms. This was a good move and they were large, bright, and comfortable to boot. Sitting in a cozy pub with a local beer, we inquired if there were a barracks or food, which was the unexpected surprise. The service was courteous and friendly, and the incredible food was prepared by the owner Daniel Heaven. We had truly fallen on our feet. Local produce was prepared to perfection and presented elegantly. It was a wonderful ending to a long day. As we left, we were even given free appenzeller night caps and a hereby liquor. You will learn that this hotel is located next to a camping area, a caravan park. Do not let this bother you. The rooms are comfortable, dinner and breakfast are delicious, and the views of the countryside are beautiful. Access roads can be difficult in bad weather, but it is worth it when you get there. A heated indoor pool is a pleasant addition.

Landgasthof Lichen has exceeded all of our expectations! The view from room 302 was breathtaking. The accommodation itself was clean and cozy. We also enjoyed the balcony. The brown family made the experience truly special. They said the property has been in the family for 130 years and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Dinner in the fully service restaurant was delectable. And the breakfast was satisfying. You know you're staying somewhere special when you're surrounded by the vacation homes and campers of locals who come here to get away from it all.
