Lovely welcome from staff . Fabulous room (Room 15) right at the top , family room , fab bathroom - comfy bed - spotlessly clean, great drinks tray . Good breakfast - good choices Right in the middle of Richmond - great pub Would highly recommend

The staff were very welcoming and made me feel at ease as a lone traveler. My room location was less than ideal at the very top of what seemed to be a never ending staircase, however the room itself was very nice, albeit a smell in the bathroom which smelt of drainage. It was however clean and spacious. The breakfast and evening meal were great and again all staff lovely and helpful.

What a great place this is, full of character warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff were great. It was always busy with people eating and the food we had on both evening's was very good and the waiting staff excellent, we had breakfast both morning's which again was very good the only down side was there was no fresh fruit available in the breakfast room ( we didn't inquire if this was an option though ) the pub is ideally located for everything and there is parking available but on a first come first served basis although there is plenty of parking elsewhere. All in all we had a great stay and will be back next time we visit Richmond, we would definitely recommend the black lion as a great place to stay for sure.

Easy check in lovely freshly renovated rooms beds are comfy and the pillows were lovely good shower pressure and nice toiletries. Food was good too and the landlord ale was spot on I stayed 1 night and rebooked for a night on the way back home perfect for single travelers or couples

Room and in fact whole hotel is spotless. Friendly staff and fabulous food. Great location too. Limited parking but we did get a space.

Room was clean staff we’re really friendly and happy to help , there was parking available the hotel was right in the centre of Richmond so lots of shops restaurants and pubs on the door step , the food was lovely and we had no issues at all with our stay and would return

Brand new bathrooms lovely rooms history of a 400 year old building not lost. Staff even more amazing helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the area. Made the stay even better.

A great last minute overnight trip here. The room was lovely, quaint and cosy. We ate dinner in the pub and cannot fault the food. I had lasagne and my husband had gammon. Breakfast was great. Cereal, toast, juice and hot drinks available to help yourself to and then order hot food. I had eggs bennedict and my husband had a full English. Great value for money and would definitely recommend!

The staff were very welcoming and gracious hosts. Especially Michelle, Demi, Elli, and some of the kitchen staff whose names I didn’t catch. Richmond is a beautiful town, the best thing about it being the people.

Nice town for a stop on the coast to coast trail. It's too bad we didn't take a full rest day here as it's the biggest town on the trail. Accommodations were wonderful and staff was welcoming as we were dripping wet on arrival. Also the 2 twin beds were glorious and probably new (most are springs poking your body at the different stops). The breakfast avocado/eggs were delicious! The room was very cozy. Highly recommend
