Gardens very well kept a pleasure to sit out and relax. Food very good, the ham hock terine starter was great. Sasha our waitress serving breakfast was really lovely, just a glow about her. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were lovely.

Food was fabulous - breakfast superb and great dinners! Only slight suggestion - skylight in Room #19 very dirty - would have been great it is was clean. But that is just a minor element in what was overall a wonderful stay! Thank you!

Quiet, friendly old road house. The staff were helpful and made you feel welcomed. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. Would come back again. If you have time St. Cuthbert’s Way hike is close by and is a beautiful walk along the river, especially in May.

Nice hotel, pleasant and helpful staff, was quite busy. Tasty meals. Unfortunately check out wasn't so good, nobody about and when found tried to charge the full amount although I had paid in advance via Hotels.com. Hotels.com are going to resolve with the hotel for me.

Had a one night stay here while walking in the area. A warm welcome from Billy the owner ensured we had an enjoyable stay. Room was lovely and clean, food was excellent, and could not fault the service from the young waiting staff.

We will definitely stay here again soon. The hotel facilities were fantastic, especially Rory and her husband were very helpful and friendly. Besides that, the food was so good and also reasonably priced. After that, the bath was amazing too. Besides that, the room was lovely and had a comfortable bed.

I unexpectedly ate here last night. Even though they were busy and we had not booked, the staff was kind enough to take us. My steak was as it should be melted in my mouth. The young waiter staff were very respectful and knowledgeable about the menu, something I find very rare and beautifully done. I strongly recommend it.

I have to write this review because I highly recommend this hotel for its food services, booked for family, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. The girl behind the bar was so friendly when my 9 year old flattered his drink over the table. Try the venison pie. It is outstanding, beautiful light crisp pastry top tender meat, and full of flavor. I am a big fan of venison and have to say that the dish was executed to perfection, others in the group had fish and chips, large portions! Children's meals were great, including vegetarian options for my daughter, locals, or other travelers from abroad. This is unquestionably the place to eat outside the borders.
