They were fantastic people! So welcoming and friendly, food was fresh and delicious! Very friendly and helpful!!! 10/10! The decor is retro/vintage but very warm, beds were comfortable, bathroom/toilet perfect sized, hot water and shower was powerful enough. The only issue really is with this website itself. They tried to contact me but the contact details were not included on her side, they thought I would be coming late and wanted me to have the key safe. The owners love doing this and you can see it! If I was you I would contact them directly after your booking through this site, just so they can have contact with you prior to you coming if any changes may take place with you or them!! 10/10

I can’t praise this place enough! What a fantastic find, unbeatable value for money. The guest house is located just outside the old city walls and has lots of character. I stayed in the single room, which was tucked at the back, quiet, cosy, and spotlessly clean. The hosts were lovely to chat to, and the breakfast delicious and cooked to order. A perfect stay, I couldn’t have made a better choice for my trip to the beautiful city of York!

This is a great base for a trip to York. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the Minster and centre of the City. The railway station is just a 20 minutes walk away. The hosts Allan and Julie are so welcoming and friendly, taking time to chat to all the guests and on hand for assistance if ever needed. They serve up a great breakfast in the mornings with both a cooked breakfast and continental options available and plenty of choice of cereals and fruit. The room was warm and cosy with a comfortable bed. Everywhere is very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend City Guest House for a stay in York.

One of the best, if not best, hotel experience we’ve had. Allan and Julie, are the nicest and most serviceminded hosts there are. Was a lovely stay at their place, on a quiet street close to city centre.

Excellent hospitality from Julie and Alan who run this guest house. They were a delight and so very helpful and accommodating. The room was comfortable and very clean. It’s an older house with so much charm and personality and it’s been very well maintained so it’s just lovely and comfortable. The dining area and entry area were lovingly decorated for the holidays. Every morning freshly made to order breakfast was served and everything was delicious each time. I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about this guest house and the lovely people who run it. Thank you for everything, Julie and Alan.
