Our stay at Hootananny in Inverness was easily one of the highlights of our 10-day trip through Scotland. From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the unique character of the property. Our room was beautifully decorated with delightful antique touches that made it feel warm, cozy, and full of history. One of the best features was having the pub right downstairs. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the live music created a truly authentic Scottish experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. If you’re visiting Inverness, Hootananny is an absolute must-visit. Whether you’re staying overnight, enjoying a meal, or stopping in for music and a pint, you’ll find a place full of character, hospitality, and Highland charm. We would happily stay here again!

It was wonderful: from the music, veggie curry and G&T to the great mattresses and sheets. The staff was so generous. I couldn’t make a reservation for dinner because I was just one but he fit me in! Way to win hearts.

This was by far the most special place we stayed in Scotland! Our room was decorated beautifully and had so many extra perks, including the best in room coffee! Our room was located right above the stage and we never heard the music at all. The food and entertainment was top notch! Thanks to Nick , Doreen and Sweet Baily!

Room was very nice but not big. Very clean and beds were comfortable. We got there after check in time but had no problems. We were on the 4th floor so we couldn’t hear the music down in the bar. We are at the bar and food was great! Make sure you make reservations for the bar if dining or you won’t get in. The only thing we didn’t like was that there is NO LIFT. You have to carry. Your luggage up steps. Would not recommend if you’re not able to do this.

The bar music is really, really loud and will keep you up past 2 am. Breakfast not included. But the room itself was clean and very nice.

The room was adorable. The only thing I found inconvenient was I had to sit outside until check in time as there is no desk. Then you ring in and get your keys. Travelling alone it’s nice if you can leave your bag if you’re early. I was treated well.

Room was clean but the bed was uncomfortable. Also this is upstairs from a bar that offers live music every night until about midnight. The bass would shake the room.

It was a very beautiful room in the best place possible if you want to go out and with a thought through selection of amenities. The place seemed very professional and tidy, the bed the best I have slept in, but I found old bacon under the bed table, the curtain was broken and could not go up again and the wifi data provided in their own papers was incorrect. So I had to pay to use data in stead. I had met the staff several times earlier and they were not very welcoming og accomodating at any time - they just pointed me to my room. I also tried to contact the admin regarding supper but never heard back. I was only there from late night to check out the next day so it did not want to spend too much time insisting on assistance either - especially after the luke interactions i had had with the staff. But truthfully I think I should have had a discount for all the things that did not work - primarily the poor cleaning.

The room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The noise travelling from the bar below was incredibly loud and didn’t stop till midnight. I wasn’t able to sleep through it and I had a long journey to take the next day. The WiFi wasn’t working or the coffee machine in the room.

We did not even stay here. We moved to another hotel in Inverness for 2 nights. Our room was 5 flights up. , without any assistance. We are two women who struggled carrying our luggage up those flights of stairs. Also, the entry instructions to door codes etc were confusing on day of arrival
