Highly recommended. Faultless. The staff deserve a special mention as they are excellent in all respects. An example is Carol who warmly greets you at breakfast and is a joy. Both breakfast and dinner were very good and the bar and terrace area is spacious with fantastic west facing views. The hotel is spectacularly located high up above the Wye Valley with a wide panorama. Many of the bedrooms benefit from these wonderful views. A great place to stay for exploring this beautiful area.

My family stayed in 2 superior rooms for one night. There is no lift so luggage has to be carried up the stairs. Room 14 was on the first floor and huge, room 30 was on the second floor and slightly smaller. The shower was over the bathtub with a curtain. The staff in the restaurant and elsewhere were excellent and we enjoyed the food (bearing in mind this is a Greene King, not a Michelin starred restaurant :). There are lovely views from the patio where you can have a drink from the bar. For the price, we were very happy with our stay and would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

Lovely old hotel in a beautiful setting. Our check in was very easy , all staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a gorgeous superior room which was so comfortable with stunning views across the river. We also enjoyed 2 lovely evening meals which were reasonably priced with plenty of choices available. Plus, as the weather was so hot, we were able to enjoy a cool drink whilst sitting on the terrace overlooking the river. Would highly recommend this hotel and wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.

I have stayed at the Royal Hotel for 3 consecutive years whilst visiting a friend. As a solo traveller I find it so comfortable and staff very friendly and helpful that I would not stay anywhere else in Ross on Wye. Good value, excellent food and very clean and comfortable rooms.

Lovely hotel right in the centre of Ross with fabulous views. Room was amazing but on top floor s quite a climb, but lovely man on desk carried all our luggage up for us. Food is delicious, try the sharing tortillas on the terrace with a bottle of wine. Car parking an added bonus.

I stayed in the main building with heigh ceilings & it is full of character . The staff are unbelievably friendly & quite happily amended my evening meal to suit me . Fabulous views from many rooms & the sunset has to be seen from the large terrace . Within 1 minute , you are in the historic town centre

We really enjoyed our stay at The Royal. The staff were really helpful and efficient. The food was excellent and really good value for money. We ate here for two nights as it was very good. The rooms were clean and we had a lovely view of the river and the shops were close by so a nice location. You could park so everything worked well. Thankyou to everyone who works here for a very nice break. We appreciated our time there.
