It was clean and the staff offered to help with any bags or see us to our room. We stayed one night on our way through town. This is an old building. It was exactly what we expected and needed. If you want a new hotel this is not it. You will be disappointed. However, it is quiet, worn but clean, cozy, and very convenient at a very reasonable price.

Excellent, convenient location to stay during the Wigtown book festival. Particular highlight being the friendly, informative staff. We were delighted to experience the delicious Scottish breakfast each morning, ingredients sourced from local farms.

We were very happy with the accommodation at the Bruce Hotel, given that there were some mixed reviews. Roma are large and beds comfortable.

The hotel was named after the king of light entertainment, Bruce Forsyte. Slightly past it's best and a bit decrepit. Possibilities. Very friendly staff who were happy to help room large, clean, good beer good value for money drawbacks a single mattress in room 19 that was around an inch thick a to so small it was like looking through a pair of binoculars unfortunately didn't stay for breakfast, which has already received great reviews on here.

The cleanliness and customer service here were nice, with the carpets in this place that looked old and was very worn out, plus they gave the smallest of rooms which can be larger than 20 to me, even though we only stayed one night, it turned out that this hotel was fine, but we wouldn't want a longer stay.

From Christmas to the New Year, I stayed here for two nights as part of a family vacation. Unfortunately, this is my second visit here, and both times under invitation. The breakfast woman was also quite nice and chatty, and the staff was really friendly and accommodating, although the boss is a character, but that's what you need. We ate breakfast the second night as a family of five, and everyone loved it! Again, many thanks, we will be back in spring.

We will stay here again and suggest others to do so. The hotel's dinner and breakfast the following morning were both excellent. When we asked to go to the dark park, the wonderful staff said they would refill a thermos flask with tea so we could drink warm water. We had to look at the Milky Way and it made us even more enjoyable!

Decent hotel a little old, very quiet and clean, wifi good, good breakfast. Plenty bars restraunts close by, entrance to car park tight parking out front on main road but parking spaces go quick, definitely would stay again.
