This hotel is housed in a beautiful, centuries old building with remarkable charm; you'll feel transported to medieval England in a very good way. However, the age of the building does come with some negatives; the stairs to my room (2) were quite steep, and the room itself was just big enough to house the king size bed within it. Additionally, the walls are quite thin, so you'll hear activity from the restaurant below until about 11pm, and potentially later from adjacent rooms (I could clearly hear my neighbour snoring!). None of this was an issue for me, as I sleep late and heavy, but I imagine it could be serious for some. What made the trip worth it however was the food; oh the food! I travel for work and pleasure easily 50+ times a year, and I can honestly say that it's difficult to remember a time I've had better food than this. The chef(s) offer a perfect combination of rustic Britishness with European refinement, and powerful flavours to bring it all home. Honestly, even if the rest of my stay had been a 3 star experience, I would've returned again just 5o experience their culinary delights once more. To briefly summarise; I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough to food lovers, but advise caution for light sleepers (though they do provide complimentary earplugs).

Late stay based on a personal recommendation. I am annoyingly picky by nature but was pleasantly surprised. The room is well formed and comfortable. The restaurant is very inviting and the food...outstanding. It is clear the venue values its patrons and a lot of thought goes into ensuring quality. The staff make the experience. Would 100% recommend.

Lovely cosy Inn with excellent food menu and cooked to a high standard. Quiet room even though it sits on a main road, the cosy room we were given had al other amenities, including a hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The only point I would make is that the stairs to the rooms are quite steep so you would have to enquire directly if they have rooms for elderly or disabled as it is a 15th century property.
