Wonderful hotel and staff. The bar staff spoils the dogs even though they enjoy going there. The food is good and there is a good selection. Just a nice place to unwind with a glass of wine.

The quality is excellent. It's a charming village pub with friendly locals and a pleasant atmosphere. Very welcoming professional staff tables for our meals, dogs can eat vegetarian meals, and food is reasonably priced. The unhealthy is that the food was only warm, not hot, the chocolate brownie was delicious, and the brownie was gigantic. However, when we asked for custard, we only got a small amount, so if this was a village pub, we would be very happy. Try it.

This weekend, we enjoyed a wonderful time at the square compass. We were overjoyed to eat from such a fantastic menu, which was exquisitely prepared, and the service was excellent. When we had another chance, we would not think twice about returning to eat. A fascinating pub with a lovely atmosphere, and a welcome change from the typical pub chains. Our stay was in a room adjacent to the pub, which was handy yet quiet and cozy as well. We had a restful nights sleep, which was spotless, tidy, and reasonably priced. We have great praise for the kindness and the warmth we received. We hope to book again soon.

I will return. Using the square and compass as a bristol. Parked in the garden, very flat, and booked in for dinner on the warmest evening of the year. Bar and restaurant had a very traditional country english pub feel, homely, with a wide variety of drinks and busy on a Tuesday. The food and service were good and all in all felt like being abroad, relaxed, easy going, in a pleasant environment. The motorhome experience couldn't have been more different, sat out chilling until late and awoken by the year's most noisy thunder storm!

The place was spotless and warm. Ive been here before, but I won't be back long. And that's got the meal all for half the price. Thank you, square I compass. My only complaint is the car park man, though. I would have preferred to use the toilet inside rather than on the sandfield side. There is no need for that.
