Stepping into this beautiful 1600s Devon inn felt like travelling back in time in the best possible way. Full of charm, character, and cosy atmosphere, it had everything you could want for a relaxing countryside stay. From the weird and wonderful ornaments on the walls to the historic beams and welcoming surroundings, every detail made it feel truly special. Laura was an absolutely fantastic landlord — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from the moment we arrived. She made us feel completely at home and went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. A huge bonus was how much both my partner and our dog loved it too! It’s not always easy to find somewhere that’s genuinely dog-friendly while still feeling so comfortable and high quality, but this place absolutely nailed it. Plenty of lovely walks and beaches nearby, a relaxed atmosphere, and lots of fuss for the dog made it perfect for all of us.

A beautiful 16th century inn, everything is absolutely clean from the rooms to the stairs, the food is nothing out of this world but it was quite good, my Fifi was treated like a Diva. All was fantastic and for the price it's absolutely good value for money, the landlady she's absolutely great in every way and of course she's the heart and soul of the site. Thank you and we will come back. 5 stars

Landlady went beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. Incredible food and sent us off in the morning with complimentary food water for our trek. Extremely friendly/welcoming atmosphere! Couldn’t recommend more!

Staying over between jobs in Bideford and Plymouth; really lovely, comfortable and clean room - lovely old building, and a beautiful bedroom. Full English breakfast cooked perfectly, orange juice, fresh coffee ('proper' coffee, not the quick granular stuff) and plenty of cereal to choose from. Will be booking here again both for work AND if and when I come to Devon for a break. Really lovely staff.

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and the food was incredible. I absolutely loved the cosy and rustic look/feel of the hotel room. The large fireplace in the restaurant/bar which I noticed on arrival was heaven in the mid December chill! This place is definitely worth a visit when on your travels!

A last-minute booking. I was made to feel really welcome immediately, shown to my room (which had a lovely view of the countryside. The room was clean and tidy, obviously traditional in character. I then popped down to the bar area to enjoy a wine and a delicious dinner.

This is a really cute little inn. It's located in a very cute little location with a nice view and a cozy feeling to the place. The proprietors were so friendly and chatty with us throughout our stay. They really made the trip feel special. They have a full English breakfast in the dining area every morning and that's amazing. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon!.

Overall, a great stay. I had a good experience at this hotel. Booked for 5 nights but stayed 6 because my wife was hospitalized overnight. Laura was helpful and attentive to our needs. There are many options for rooms. Breakfast was plentiful. Paula has been a force to be reckoned with and is an asset to the inn. A few minor details that will be helpful in the future. The slope to the rear entrance is uneven and may be classified as a trip hazard. Do you have a disabled room because my wife discovered that a rail or two would assist in the bathroom of the room we had. After 11 am, a key or card access machine would allow us to enter the premises without disturbing Laura.
