I was delightfully surprised by the adorableness of the hotel. It was clean and safe. It also has a lot of charm and activities. If you are theater lover you will enjoy the theater history too.

Perfectly situated for the theater district. Great bathroom design and cleanliness. Small room but most of what you need. Don’t expect a frig or microwave. Great pricing agreement with a parking garage within a block of the hotel.

This hotel was in a great area and was beautifully designed. The rooftop lounge, 2nd floor lounge and the steakhouse were all excellent. My new go to hotel when I am in NYC!

We had a great stay this hotel. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and in a great location. We recommend both the rooftop bar and the lounge. Fantastic cocktails and entertainment!

We had an amazing stay at Civilian Hotel—it was the perfect choice for our first time in New York. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt special, and the team really went out of their way to make my fiancé’s birthday unforgettable. The views from the hotel are incredible, giving you that classic New York skyline feel. There’s a fantastic bar downstairs with live jazz that created such a great atmosphere in the evenings, and the rooftop bar with a DJ set was the perfect place to celebrate. What really stood out was the staff—always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with anything we needed. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay as a couple. Highly recommend!

Great location, very quiet. A bigger trash/recycling bin would have been nice. Decor is sleek and very art deco. Staff is very nice and greets guests everytime they pass through the lobby. Only thing they could have mentioned is to wave at the keypads on the walls to open the doors to the street as the doors are extremely heavy.

EXCEPTIONAL in every way. From the well appointed rooms to the stellar staff, The Civilian shined. I was shocked at how quiet the rooms were especially since the hotel is in close proximity to Times Square. We felt a million miles away from the hustle and bustle even though it was steps away. We stayed in a "Cozy" room and it felt much larger than 130 square feet. The design and efficiency plus the feng shui of the space made it feel like home. There are 3 restaurants/bars on the property with complimentary coffee and tea every day (2nd floor). From check in to departure, all of our needs were exceeded. We will stay here again. Bravo to the staff and the genius owner who conceptualized this gem.

Room was big compared to others offered in manhattan. So nicely designed. Everything clean. Helpful staff. I didn’t eat at the restaurants or anything so not sure about those, but heard good things! The building itself and the decor are beautiful.
