Two important points were made 30 years ago when ymca meant young. The admission of middle-aged men to ymca was the first surprise. I was informed that this is the current policy. Why not? It is misleading, and y should be cut off from the name. The façade is wonderful, but the awful state of the housing facilities was the second surprise. As if no investments had been made since then. When you first arrive at the reception, the feeling is awful. Even worse, when you discover your room! Ymca is somewhat affordable, but management shouldn't prevent management from having a long-term investment plan for the fitness center. It wouldn't take much to bring this place back to the proper level of lodging.

I stayed here for one night while in Berkeley to see a performance at the Greek theatre. The check-in process was very good. The room was quite basic, with two small mattresses next to the showers and bathrooms. The rooms were perfect for one night and a place to sleep. We intended to use the pool but we never made it there. Excellent location, took about 2 minutes to travel to Greece. We passed through campus to get home and it was great to see campus.
