The hotel is walking distance to the downtown restaurants/shops, Washington and Lee University, VMI. Very relaxing pool area with Hot tub, nice shaded areas, comfortable seating. Nice area for breakfast, food choices were ok. Staff was very nice.

We have stayed before at this unique Hampton Inn, built around an historic mansion. We had a king bed room in the modern wing, larger than most Hamptons. Easy access from I-82 and close to the historic center. We make annual trips along this route and recommend the hotel. Lexington is worth a visit. Walkable and interesting historic center. Many educational plaques set into sidewalks. Loved the sign near Stonewall Jackson’s house describing him as “teacher and gardener” during his time as instructor at VMI.

The prettiest Hampton Inn I've ever seen. This building has history to it. The pool was just opened so it needed cleaning, but the grounds were beautiful. You can sit outside on the veranda with your free breakfast in the morning. And my favorite, walk from the hotel into town for dinner.

Unique Hampton Inn in a beautiful setting and convenient to urgent needs shopping and local hospital. Breakfast staff, especially Casey, was attentive and helpful, but the check-in staff, not so much.

Parking was well lit, close and ample. Our room was very clean, bright and comfortable. While the hotel proper held beautiful elements of it's almost 200 year history, the rooms themselves were basic Hampton Inn variety. It didn't bother us in the least. Breakfast was about what one would expect from a Hampton Inn. I found the choice for kielbasa sausage as a meat option, versus bacon and breakfast sausage, a little odd for breakfast, but it was good. I wish they'd had grits or biscuits and gravy as we were in the South. But overall it was pleasant - good lemon batter waffles and great coffee. We had breakfast on the side patio and a beautiful view of the lawn, trees and distant hills. We had the pleasure of meeting The Colonel, the local celebrity cat too! He's very handsome. The area holds so much rich history with Washington and Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute just down the street. All nestled within the cozy, warm Historic district and the beautiful The Georges. Well worth a visit, just don't expect more than what we experienced and you will be quite happy, we think.

Beautiful historic front section of the hotel. Rooms were very clean. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

cookie jar with fresh cookies is a good start. Coffee at all hours is another bonus. Breakfast bar is terrific with an attentive cook. Room was clean and as expected.
