I stayed at this hotel during my trip for the Boston Marathon, and overall, it proved to be a practical and comfortable choice for a race weekend. One of its strongest advantages is the location. Being situated close to a train line made getting around the city simple and efficient, an especially valuable feature when navigating Boston during a major event. Accessibility like this can make or break a stay, and here it definitely works in the hotel’s favor. The room itself was clean and well maintained upon arrival, which set a positive tone. Housekeeping operates on request rather than as a default service, which may catch some guests off guard. That said, it’s a minor adjustment as long as you’re aware and plan accordingly. I appreciated the in room amenities complimentary water, tea, and coffee are thoughtful touches that are becoming increasingly rare, particularly at this price point. Additional conveniences, such as access to hot and cold water in the basement and a small computer area for guest use, add a layer of practicality that frequent travelers will value. This isn’t a luxury stay, but it doesn’t try to be. Instead, it delivers where it counts: cleanliness, functionality, and a few well considered extras. For marathon runners or visitors looking for a straightforward, reliable base in Boston, this hotel is a solid option worth considering.

Amazing. I stayed here, it was my base for the Boston Marathon. Ideal location, just 5 stops to Boston Common. Clean, comfortable and very friendly.

J'ai aimé mon séjour. Je suis venue faire le marathon de Boston je je souhaitais me loger seule dans un endroit tranquille et abordable. Très facile pour se rendre en ville avec le métro directement en face. Personnel très gentil et bon service. Hôtel très propre. J'ai adoré Cambrige, c'est très beau et paisible. 🙂

Clean, quiet and comfortable! We stayed 1 night for the Boston Marathon. Room was ready early and we were upgraded to a Queen room. Room had a great shower and soft towels. Convenient location to subway, shopping (CVS & Target) and good dining options. We liked Bagelsaurus, CSCA Cafe, and Andy’s Diner

I really enjoyed my stay at the Porter Square Hotel. It has everything I needed for my short trip to Boston. The staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and well kept. I woud highly recommend this hotel if you are headed to Cambridge. There are several food and coffee options in the area. The train station is in short walking distance also.

Room is clean and overall fine, but quite basic for a supposed 3 star hotel. The room lacks storage, with only a hook that fits 2 coats, a shoe rack, 1 drawer in each of the night stand, and a small desk. No fridge in the room (unless requested). Location is great, only steps from Porter Station and shops, and 20 min walk to Harvard.

The location is perfect to us. We walked to Harvard Campus, a few minutes to Red Line and buses. The facility is in good condition, including the amenity at the hotel and the room. The front desk people are very friendly. We will come back to Boston in a few months and if available, we would like to stay here again without a doubt.
