We found this place completely by accident on a cross country road trip, scrolling through Expedia looking for somewhere to spend one night. But this place is a treasure! The location is perfect. Right on the Chesapeake Bay, it has its own private beach, a sprawling lawn dotted with Adirondack chairs, and some of the most peaceful views I’ve ever experienced. The bay was serene. But also, lively? There was a children’s sailing camp out on the water for goodness sake. The lifestyle this little town has was mesmerizing to watch. Like we’d stepped into the Truman Show in the best possible way. The hospitality is 5⭐️. Ben was amazing! We were given a complimentary room upgrade, too (chandelier room). Our favorite parts: the clawfoot tub, a private screened porch overlooking the water, the sweetest welcome gift that included this little oyster shell trinket made by a local artist that I absolutely adore. The stay also included fresh coffee and pastries quietly delivered to your door each morning. Binoculars left for birdwatching on the bay. A dehumidifier in the room. Kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, beach chairs… every time we turned around we discovered another thoughtful touch. If you’re looking for a sleek, modern luxury hotel, this isn’t it… but that’s exactly why it’s so special. Every little imperfection tells a story. It feels authentic, cozy, and wonderfully preserved.

Sitting on a Adirondack chair under a tree, watching the sailboats on the river.. a little piece of heaven! Our little apartment was perfect for 2, the bountiful breakfast basket with a hot canister of coffee was perfect! We loved being a part of the little town of Oxford. Highly recommend

GREAT experience! Oxford is a beautiful little town, quiet, and vintage feeling but within a short drive of other attractions and great fishing. The view was beautiful, the room fresh and clean, the amenities were fabulous. We received a little gift bag with some food goodies and pamphlets to local businesses. Every morning we received hot coffee in a basket with some small breakfast snacks outside our door. The private porch was perfection and we will definitely be staying here again. And telling our friends!

Sandaway is a gem; a truly special inn. Owner/operator Ben and his staff were attentive and truly exceptional. Our room oozed character and charm, and the facility was well maintained with fresh coats of paint and solid, aged wood doors and brass hardware. The lawn and beach were the ideal place to plunk one’s rear to gaze at the bay and contemplate life with friends and family. I highly recommend Sandaway!

Unique Property. Never saw a single member of the staff, but never needed to. Was provided with everything I could want; coffee and pastry left at the door each morning, and written information, restaurant menus, etc left in the room answered any question I could have. The most unique thing was the town of Oxford. I needed a couple of days away from stress, and found the most relaxing venue in the most peaceful town I have ever seen.

This was such a romantic, quiet, and relaxing get away retreat for my husband's 50th birthday! The property is stunning and so well maintained, right on the water. We watched a sailboat race the first evening we were there, which was such a treat! Our room had a beautiful view of the river and it was lovely to sit on the screened porch and watch sailboats sail by. The two huge sycamore trees were absolutely stunning to the view as well! We'd go back in a heartbeat!

We arrived early and the staff was wonderful and had our room ready soon after we arrived. The staff is very helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. The property is well cared for and the location on the river is stunning. We were at the inn on a week day and it was quiet and relaxing. The breakfast was a basket of breakfast biscuits and protein bars, no fruit or yogurt but very delicious coffee.

Absolutely magical stay at Sandaway Suites & Beach! From the moment we arrived, everything felt peaceful, elegant, and incredibly welcoming. The waterfront views are breathtaking — especially at sunset — and the private beach creates such a relaxing, exclusive atmosphere. The suites are beautifully designed: spacious, spotless, cozy, and full of charm. You can truly feel the attention to detail in every corner. Waking up to the sound of the water and enjoying coffee with that view was unforgettable. The staff were exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring, making the entire experience feel personal and luxurious at the same time. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, a peaceful retreat, or simply a beautiful escape from the busy world, Sandaway is a hidden gem. One of the most charming and memorable places we’ve stayed. We will absolutely be back!

By far, this staff went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. Our room was super clean and within steps of a beautiful view of the Chesapeake. Every detail imaginable was thought of as well as breakfast and coffee waiting for us every morning. The location couldn't be beat with a quaint town just a short walk.
