Room extremely comfortable and very clean. Staff is the most helpful staff I have ever had in a hotel. Came in after multiple layer overs and late running flights. The staff helped me with luggage both taking it to my room and to the car the next morning. By the time I reached the hotel I had either been sitting in an airport or flying for over 24 hours. Did not have any breakfast, too tired to think about eating.

Friendly and helpful staff - both on the phone pre-visit (to me) and then, as I observed, helping another guest with activity options.... Rooms are more than adequate - comfortable and as needed. Hotel is within walking distance to plenty, yet away from main crowds.... Second time I have stayed there, and plan to stay there again.

For anyone who wants a taste of the old Hawaiian style Waikiki, this place is for you. Locally run with a staff that exudes ALOHA!! Convenient location to shopping and sightseeing. Walking distance to most locations. A hidden gem! Great little bar and hang out spot. Will definitely stay here again!

Hotel was clean and staff very friendly. We traveled with elderly parents and staff helped with luggage up the steps. Didn't use the amenities. Can hear the street traffic. Close to McDonald's and Red Lodster. 2 mile walk to cruise port.

We absolutely loved our week long stay at the Equus. Their location and price are just unmatched and all the staff were extremely welcoming and pleasant to deal with. Supporting a local boutique hotel over one of the large chain resorts is a huge plus. We stayed in the queen room which came with an unexpected balcony, the bed was soft and comfortable and the airconditioned room made for a undistrubed sleep. It is important to note that the hotel is right on Ala Moana Blvd, so you will experience traffic noise, however, this did not bother us at all and the sliding door did a good job of keeping the room quiet. The parking lot is small and can be difficult to manuever in so if you are renting a car keep this in mind. Our TV also seemed to be in store preview mode, so there was random spec graphics showing on the side of the screen periodically. But who goes to Hawaii to just watch TV in their hotel anyway? Overall this hotel is full of charm and character! From the freindly hotel bar staff creating a pleasent environment to enjoy a drink in the open air patio, to the creaky elevator and the equestrian styling throughout. The Equus can certainly be a mixed bag if your expectation is for a white washed, pristine, resort vacation. But if you are looking for a charming place to hang your hat on your island adventure, the Equus cannot be beat. We hope to be back again.

The staff were super welcoming and fun! I appreciate the staff making sure our towels got switched out and our room was made up(: they offer a welcome drink which I think is super sweet! Overall it was in the perfect location to navigate the island on our vacation !

This is a charming boutique hotel that offers a quieter, more simple experience without a lot of extra amenities. While the property is a bit older, it is very clean and well maintained. What truly makes this hotel stand out is the staff—they are incredibly welcoming and go above and beyond to help with anything you need. The pool area is beautiful, although it isn’t heated and can be a bit cold. That said, my son didn’t mind at all! The rooms are somewhat small, and the beds are on the firmer side, which may not be for everyone. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.
