I liked that an envelope with the name of the cleaning lady on it was left in the room. I almost always leave a tip for the cleaning staff, never knowing if it went to the one who actually cleaned the room before my arrival or to the one who cleaned after I left.

They ran out of waffle mix, so seconds weren’t an option! That’s literally my only negative complaint. Clean, friendly. They were updating furniture when we arrived to check in. Air was cold and worked great. The room with the jacuzzi tub was amazing after a long day of walking and seeing the town/ flea market. This is where I’ll recommend people to stay! Can’t wait to come back.

Clean and accommodating room. Unexpected amenities in bathroom. Everything worked as expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and maintained even with the high volume of guests rotating in and out of the breakfast area. Will put this hotel at top of choices on our next visit to Shipshewana.

It was a very relaxing trip. Nice to unplug and get back to focus on important things like family. This allowed us to do just that.

Nice hotel in amish country. Clean spacious rooms. Breakfast was normal for hotels. Cleaning staff was friendly and courteous. Would definately recommend. 6 miles south in middleburt is Essenhaus smorgasbord and it is awesome. Ample parking and elevator was easy to access.

My wife and I stayed at The Van Buren on June 13 2026, and I cannot praise this hotel and its staff enough. On June 11 a tornado tore through Shipshewana, knocking out power to what felt like 100% of the city. It was a chaotic and stressful situation, but The Van Buren was fully prepared with a backup generator that kept the lights on and guests safe. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the front desk agent, Karen. Despite the emergency unfolding around the town, Karen was the absolute definition of professional, kind, courteous, and polite. Her calm demeanor and excellent customer service turned a scary weather event into a comfortable, reassuring stay. People like Karen deserve to be recognized for going above and beyond. Thank you to The Van Buren and especially to Karen—you have a customer for life!

Beautiful hotel! Front desk even called us after we were in the room to make sure we were happy with it. Breakfast was fresh, good variety, and well-maintained. Will definitely stay here again!
