We stayed for one night and it was one of the best accommodations i have had in japan. As a foreigner, he felt welcomed! The staff were very kind and let us drop off bags ten hours before checkin. We explored gora before checking in and enjoyed the private onsen only an hour later. In the evening and morning, we were able to use the onses for an entire hour. This was incredibly special for us! Baths were spotless and hot! When we didnt want to leave that night, the staff gave us snacks and cup ramen. The next day, our breakfast was also delicious! After checkout, they helped call cabs for me. While we waited in the cold morning in this cold weather, taxi took some time to arrive. When you left, receptionists gave you cherished note, chocolate, and cookies. They also gave tea and remembered the taxi that drove us there while we stood there! Very happy with our stay and experience at ryokan! Would stay again and longer!.4.8/521 Aug 2023

Easily the best stay ive ever had while in japan. They offer priavte onsen that you can reserve, and you have three options. Its a long walk to get there, but it is actually on top of peaks. The breakfast was excellent, the staff was all incredibly friendly, they even had netflix!.4.8/529 Mar 2023

This location was a great introduction to the onsen experience for our family with young children. Our first trip to japan and we were able to stay in taikko traditional room and experience an onesan together as if we had been there for the first time. The staff were very accommodating for us late arrival, allowing us to enter the hot springs later.4.6/54 Aug 2024

We recommend stopping at the nearby hakone no mori and pancake for breakfast. We spent ten days in japan, and this was by far my favorite part of our trip. Since we are both heavily tattooed and a visibly lgbtq couple, we werent sure if we would be able to locate an onsen that was safe or welcoming for us. Ajisai checked those boxes for me. The room was cozy (we booked through Airbnb and only saw the listing for reserving primarily for rooms in the japnstyle, but the sleeping mats were very comfortable! And the onusen baths had been spotless and hot. They even allowed us to reserve an extra time in each bath because the ryokan wasnt fully booked. I tried two different bath options, indoors and outdoor, which were both enjoyable. As others have noted, it is uphill from the station, yet we had no trouble getting cabs to the inn and back and forth for dinner (restaurants do close early, some are cashonly, so be careful. There is no atm in town. Due to linguistic issues, the staff graciously called the taxi for them. Although the walk downhill was not too bad, they were booked up when we checked out.4.6/53 Apr 2024

The man at the front desk was very helpful and spoke fluent english and mandarin. They were happy to take 12 of us back to the station in their own car as they didnt want us to walk in the rain. Thank you for making our last night in japan so special!.4.6/54 Nov 2023

Would without a doubt suggest! This ryokan offers lovely rooms and friendly service. This is ideally suited for those seeking secluded onsens where you may snap some pictures as well. Three onses are available, and bookings can be made twice per day. The accommodations were exquisite, while the service attended to our specific requests with great attention to detail. It takes fewer walking to get there, but luckily i have gotten to tastier bus station nearby!.4.6/55 Feb 2023

Overall, i would strongly recommend a stay here for relaxation. A lovely visit. We made our reservation through airbnb. The onsen amenities were excellent. It was great to have an onset that was acceptable because we are both heavily tattooed. When you arrive for checkin, you reserve 50 minutes to use either indoor or outdoor onsesen, outdoor onesen or sauana, and indoor onnes. I heartily endorse the indoor and outdoor options (they are all separate). Excellent communication from the host, who gave us reassurances about our journey via direct application maps. After 15 minutes of walking up incredibly steep hill, we discovered that gora station to be the closest station. Local cuisine was served in delicious portions. Dinner is highly recommended. Staff is excellent as well. Since the area closes very early, one restaurant opens in the evening, while many locations are closed until 11 oclock, making it quite remote. Small water bottles and snacks were available for sale on airbubnet. Access to local transportation. Make sure the cable car is operating before you leave if you want to see it! Because the winds were too high for it to run, instead of standing in freezing for over an hour, there was no bus available to take us there because the wind was too strong for them to move.4.6/511 Jan 2023

It was our first time staying at an onsen ryokan, and we had a great time. The staff gave us hints on how to prepare dinner in english. We were unable to finish the breakfast because it was far too generous. For us, merely putting croutons and salads are not necessary.4.4/527 Jul 2024

We had a great time staying here. I believe any unfavorable reviews about location, transportation, etc. Are from people who did not conduct thorough research before making securing reserving onsite. If you have large or heavy luggage, it is advisable to walk 20 to 25 minutes from the gora station, which is not suitable for this. Walking from Koenkami cablecar station was more convenient and simple for us. The hakone free pass made traveling around all of the nearby transportation options very simple and practical because we had it. All of our transportation choices were easily and conveniently accessible by our hakane complimentary pass. Our staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. We arrived early and were able to leave our bags while exploring the area. When we returned, our appropriate luggage was neatly waiting for me in our room. Be aware that there will likely be levy on arrival if youve made an online reservation. This was previously informed us of this, and it has been minimal. Ajisai onsen ryokan, thank you for ensuring u!.4.4/56 Apr 2024

The location is 4 minutes walk from the bus station and 8 minutes walking from cable car station. But no matter which way you take, the road is flat after you get off, so its not very tiring. We went to the ryokan in the morning to store our luggage. Next are the facilities at the hotel. The rooms were very clean and tidy, with new tatami mats and spacious rooms. My friend and i liked the bed set of the house, comforter and pillow were really comfortable and we slept well at night. Air conditioners as well as humidifiers are also equipped. Spa is next. There are two spas at this rm, one indoor and one outdoor. All of them are source springs with only water added, making the water milky. Both spa looks exactly like the pictures and are very picturesque and beautiful. And the best part is that one room can book a spa for one hour in early morning and an hour late evening. I enjoyed both onsen times. By the way, there are many styles of yukata provided by the restaurant for photos. Finally, service. Chinese and Japanese staff were extremely kind and gave us lots of advice about the trip. Without them, our twoday and 1night trip would not have been so perfect. Im looking forward to my next trip to hakone.4.4/517 Feb 2024

The location is far from the station and there are many slopes, so it is difficult, but above all, the private bath is the best! Prices are reasonable and the staff are well behaved. As for cleanliness, i got the impression that the room had been thoroughly cleaned.4.4/54 Jan 2024

Excellent experience! Very friendly staff, spotless rooms, onsen, showers, and public areas. Staff spoke excellent english and were able to accommodate my friends gluten intolerance (celiacs) with a delicious, specially prepared japanesestyle breakfast. My usual japinese breakfast was equally beautiful as it was delicious and filling. Onsan was incredibly enjoyable you get to reserve your slot when you arrive. We chose to walk from the hotel because the location is very hilly, it takes around 15 minutes to stroll. The hotel area is lovely, with lush greenery surrounding it. Although the restaurant isnt open for dinner, there are plenty of options close to the train station.4.4/59 Dec 2023

I had a wonderful onenight stay at jisai. The onsen was fantastic, the personnel were prompt in checking us in, and they were helpful. There were no complaints about the spacious and spotless rooms.4.4/53 Dec 2023

The onsen is private, making it very easy for my young family. Extremely clean, the staff are friendly and enjoy playing with my kids. Location wise, its great, pretty much in the middle of every sightseeing spot. Definitely worth returning.4.4/529 May 2023

The hotel is located directly on the cable car route. There is also an onsen at the hotel that can be used both outside and inside the building. Make a reservation for idly family room, large room in the motel. Because people who stay with friends love the japanesestyle room. In the morning, you can also have tai tea with your friends.4.4/514 Apr 2023

Ajisai onsen ryokan is by far the best onsian in the area. The staff is very nice and accommodating. This place is highly recommended if you want to really enjoy your onsesen experience with your partner or family. Bathrooms are reserved an hour per room. Most onsets have gender segregation, so unless you get used to it, you will feel uncomfortable. Make sure breakfast is included in your room reservation, the nearby restaurants are very far and expensive (not a surprise) this is at the top of the mountain and very touristy. Cleanliness and relaxation are provided here. When we checked out, we asked the male staff he could take us cabs to drop us off at station. He immediately offered to let us drop them off.4.4/511 Mar 2023

I spent two nights at the ryokan. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I had a relaxing experience and it was immaculate. In the morning and evening, you can reserve an outdoor or indoor private onsen for one hour (or even longer if the other guests dont mind). You wont have to deal with dozens of people because the hotel is so small. Although dinner outperforms breakfast by ten points, the cuisine is decent. There are no complimentary drinks for your dinner, which i wasnt told to me. Due to the menus price tag, ive been able to figure it out on my own. However, it hasnt felt entirely authentic to him. If that makes sense, its more like resembling equating rooker. It isn't particularly modern, and there are some rough edges here and elsewhere. My stay would have received 4.5 stars, but my 5star rating was generously given in accordance with dubio pro reaos philosophy. As we all know, ratings here are inflationary do everything less than 5 simply means chappy experience, right?.4.2/51 Apr 2024

Ajisai is a very pleasant ryokan in the far north end of hakone. Unlike some ries we have stayed in, there is an atmosphere much more casual with many traditional elements optional. The room was very large and comfortable, and the onsen itself was small but very nice. It should be noted that there are no showers or baths in rooms, so the only way to wash is to book one of the private onses. Staff were really great, nice, helpful, accommodating. We thought we would be able to walk, but i wouldnt recommend it because it is very far from the nearest station up some very steep hills and not well signposted. Local area was sparse, how much of this is due to covid 19, its unclear, however, every restaurant was incredibly distance away, most were closed or closing early.4.2/55 Jan 2024

We had a great time at the amiable onsen ryoken. We received clear directions from the venue prior to our arrival to assist us in finding the location, which was very helpful because we arrived late at night. When we got there, we were greeted by incredibly kind staff who were very kind to her 2.5yearold daughter and gave her toys to enjoy in our room. They also allowed us to take advantage of both of the available baths. The bath itself was quite relaxing, especially the outdoor ones. It was fortunate that it was raining out, as the outside bath was sheltered, providing idlease for relaxation. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of small plate options to sample their offerings. After taking gills, the place was immaculate and cozy, and we slept soundly after taking the bath. Because of its friendly staff and stunning mountain setting, ive highly recommend this onses. Thank you, Ajisai onokan!.4.2/516 Jan 2023

We made the reservation one day before our arrival and had no trouble booking it online. It was on top of a hill so i recommend taking cabs at the station to go up if you have heavy luggage. The staff were very kind and helpful but the meals are ok unless you make reservations in advance as there is no typical japanese dish. Only simple food such as nuggets and fries. On the other hand, the rooms were spacious and clean. I had hordes of fun using the private onsen, which was wellequipped! Overall he had an excellent stay and would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try out ryokans for the first time.Popular Facilities
