Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and we will definitely return the next time we visit kyoto! To be honest, the best hotel stay weve had in japan so far! We chose to reserve this location for the ryokan experience, and it certainly didnt disappoint. Checkin is super smooth and easy! The line moves pretty quickly because there are usually two hotel employees stationed at the counter. At the entrance, you will also be greeted with a blackboard letting you know about daily weather forecasts and any activities the hotel is hosting. During our stay, they had sake appreciation and soba tasting night for the new year. The room and toilet were immaculate! The shower area also had a door to partition the dry and wet area, which was very nice. The water pressure for us was also strong, so every night when we took a shower after a long day of walking was very soothing. The only minor complaint was that the room was a little dim, but i guess it was just to enhance the entire ryokan experience. If you need extra light in the room, you can rent a nightstand from them for free, which we did. Service was impeccable! Honestly the best customer service from all the three hotels we stayed in during our trip to japan. I suffered from a swollen knee during this trip, and they provided ice packs for us to borrow each night. They also assisted us in booking local taxis (just remember the counter only opens at 7 am) which made our travels much easier. Hotel offerings They have a bar selling sake and other alcohol i highly recommend trying shouchu and the three different kinds of sake, not expensive, just a small bathtub for you and your partner. The heat really helped relieve some of the muscle tension and pain. It also only cost 500 yen for 40 minutes, so it was not expensive at all.4.8/55 Oct 2024

We had a wonderful time during our stay in kyoto, thanks to the lovely staff at this ryoken hotel. We stayed over the new years holiday, and the hotel provided free soba to all of our guests, which was delicious! We also thoroughly enjoyed the japanese breakfast and were impressed by the attentive and caring staff. Our room was perfect for our threenight stay in kyoto. This hotel offers many options for guests to customize their stay, including a variety of breakfast options, bedroom styles, and allows guests to experience japanese culture. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. For young travelers, this location is ideal if you enjoy walking, but its not recommended for those bringing older people because it is quite far to walk to anywhere. Our ryokan is spacious and suitable for 3 people. The fact that the toilet is separated from the bath is a plus! The hotel staff were also very helpful. If we were to visit kyomachiya ryokan again, i would stay here. Lovely ryokan with very helpful staff. The tatami room we reserved easily accommodates two people and could easily accommodate three. We reserved a western room for our son, and lugging open suitcases around two western beds would have been difficult for two people. The rooms were clean and functional, and the futon had an extra foam layer that we (westerners) used to assist us out back. The room was warm, but we turned off the heating, and the windows could be opened. We visited in december. The location was ideal for those who dont mind walking for five to ten minutes to the station, shopping area, etc. The staff will do a bag wash laundry and return it clean, dry, and folded the same day. The price to performance ratio in my book is unbelievable. We took a few baths in the bath area and it was exemplary. We had an amazing 3 nights here! We visited japan for our honeymoon and the service here was impeccable. The room was spacious and comfortable! What a beautiful sight the tatami floors were! The ryokan is nice and clean with tatamistyle rooms. The staff are amazing and very helpful. English is spoken well by the reception. The location is great and convenient for buses and the metro. The best part is that they provide a great japanese breakfast - vegetarian if you ask.4.6/521 Aug 2024

I would rate it 6 out of 5 stars because it is a wonderful restful hotel. The hotel is clean, quiet, and has kind staff who speak multiple languages. We had an amazing time here! We have met some of the friendliest staff members ever. The breakfast was also fantastic! Some of the main attractions we wanted to explore, such as nishiki market, pontocho park, and even nenzaka, are all within walking distance of this location. If you enjoy exploring the town by walking through, this is the place to go if you want to experience a ryokan on a tight budget.4.6/511 May 2024

Tax JPY 200 - for room rate of JPY 19,999 and under per night.
Tax JPY 500 - for room rate between JPY 20,000 and JPY 49,999 per night.
Tax JPY 1,000 - for room rate of JPY 50,000 and over per night.
An additional charge will be applied if the number of guests at check-in is more than the number of persons in the booking.
Any additional people that are not included in the original reservation are not allowed to stay.
As of 1 March 2026, changed local tax regulations require guests to pay accommodation tax at updated rates, which will be collected separately by the property during the check-in process. The tax is determined by the room rate and is charged per person, per night, as follows:
