This one was a little hard to find - the lobby - check in is in a little different area of where we are staying.. the directions gave the location to the building but the lobby was in a different location. Had to ask a guy for help.. the lobby was about 2-3 short blocks from the building. But the locals were very nice. they knew the place and helped us out. Rooms were nice - service was nice.. just a little confusing to find the lobby at first.

We had a pleasant stay at Ikoi-no-ie, which is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the metro station. We booked a room with a private bathroom, which was very convenient. The area is quiet, with a restaurant just around the corner and a shared dining room available for use. One thing to note is that check-in and the front desk are in a separate building about a 3-minute walk away, so if you're arriving with large suitcases, be prepared to go back and forth. Additionally, the rooms are on the second floor with steep stairs, which might be challenging if you have heavy luggage. Other than that, the Japanese-style room was very nice and clean. The hotel staff was helpful and welcoming, and both check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. Overall, a great stay with a few logistical points to keep in mind!

What a deception this was. Our welcome was excellent. The kimonosclad hostesses welcomed us and showed great assistance and politeness. After checking in, one of the hostesses showed us to our guesthouse, which was in another location because the ikoi-noie has several addresses around the block where their guests are staying. It appeared lovely at first glance, and our guesthouse had a shared living area and kitchen where you could prepare and eat your own meals. Fantastic. It started to get a little awkward as soon as we entered our room. My girlfriend and i reserved a room for two people. And yes, our room had two futons, but because it was so small, one of the futons was on the first and the other on the second because it was impossible to fit both futons on one floor. We discovered that the unused closet doors were actually walls between the adjacent room and ours during the night. During our travels through japan, we stayed in quite a few traditional guesthouses and hostels with minimal privacy, but privacy is virtually nonexistent at ikoi no ie. The next morning, it was also impossible to take a shower because there was only one bathroom available for about 20 guests to share. And when we were finally able to squeeze through, the bathroom was a disappointment. It was filthy, especially the tub, and the showerhead couldnt be hanged. It gave me the impression that livestock could be kept in a minimal amount of space for maximum profit.

The traditional room feeling for a reasonable price. Keep in mind that includes preparing the futon

In july, i spent three nights here. The location has a hostellike vibe, but not in a negative way. If youre on a tight budget and want to prepare your own meals, there is a small kitchen available. Although it might have been crowded with four people, our room for two people was adequate. The personnel was accommodating but basic.

I didn’t expect that quality, because it was very budget friendly too, but it was really like a Ryokan. There is also a temple that called Higashihongan-ji, and is famous, moreover it’s only 10 min away from the Kyoto station as you can see the tower.

This was my second time staying in this hostel and I would definitely return. The staff is very kind, attentive and responsive. The room size is fine for two people, although staying just by myself it was even better. Bathroom, shower and kitchen areas are very clean. It also has good amenities in the room as well as in the kitchen. Also, the hostel is very close to the train station so the location is very convenient. I would highly recommend staying in this place.
