Société Nationale Malgache de Transports Aériens S.A., or commonly known as Air Madagascar, is an airline based in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The airline is a national airline of Madagascar that operates services to Europe, Asia, and destinations to neighboring African islands and the Indian Ocean, from its main base at Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo.
The airline was founded in 1947 to join the Transports Aériens Intercontinentaux and Air France flights, and after Madagascar's independence, Air Madagascar officially became a national airline. Air Madagascar operates services on domestic routes, and then in the late 1960s and 1970s, the airline began international flights to destinations such as France and South Africa.
